In Palau we attend a new mother ceremony to celebrate her survival of childbirth. As part of the preparation, the new mothers' maternal uncles build her a traditional steam house for her postpartum healing - a practice that goes back thousands of years.

KOREA

In Korea we visit a country where steaming is commonplace both in spas and hospitals by - not just women but men as well. We hear from doctors, researchers and steam practitioners to learn about why steaming is practiced so widely. 

CZECH REPUBLIC

In the Czech Republic steam is being used in maternity departments in over 30 hospitals as an aid to women during labor. We visit 3 hospitals to find out how and why the hospitals are offering steaming to their patients and why all of the hospitals in the area are racing to get trained. 

USA

In the USA we look at how women are choosing to use steam as a natural alternative to more invasive medical options - like surgery and drugs. And along the way, they might be uncovering some important medical discoveries.
